Is it normal for the battery life of the Gear S2 to only last about 8-9 hours?

I purchased my Gear S2 and charged it right away to 100% put it on at 6:45 a.m. and by 1:00 the battery was down to 5%. I charged again last night to 100%, put it on this morning at 7:00 a.m. and as of right now (10:00a.m.) I am currently at 60%. Any help?

Mine battery dies quick like that if I use the stand alone 4g and it's looking for signal a lot

Depends on your settings. I have the 3G model on Verizon and get more than a day out of it.
Connections:
Bluetooth: ON
Mobile Networks/Gear Networks: Auto Switch
WiFi and NFC: OFF
Auto Switch will only turn on 3g/Phone service if Bluetooth is disconnected. With my Note 5 set to Call Forward, if the Bluetooth disconnects calls will then be sent to the watch if not answered on the phone within a few rings.

Try disabling Contacts permission to gear app.
