Not getting text and email notifications

I downloaded Textra, made it my default messaging app on S6, and turned on notifications in Gear app. Still not getting notifications on Gear S2. When I got to the messaging app on the watch and tap it, it says "unable to receive messages on the gear. Change the default messaging app to Messages." Help?

IIRC textra isn't compatible with the gear s2 the way the stock messenger is. You may get a notification that a message was received, but won't be able to see it or reply the same way. That's why the msg app on the watch gives you that message.
