Flashing DE03 For Dummies

Hey folks! As you know, the official 2.1 update is out. Here's an *****-proof guide to flashing and rooting the official DE03 2.1.

------------------------------------------------------------------
FLASHING OFFICIAL 2.1

1. Goto control panel->ADD/REMOVE program->Remove all Sprint drivers

2. Download the new DE03 2.1 flashing utility:

3. Restart computer.

4. Plug in USB cord to phone and run SWUpdate utility.

5. Your phone will reboot, and you will have Android 2.1 DE03.

*******OR... If you have the CL14 SWUpdate Utility installed:

1. Download the DE03 .tar file:

2. Navigate to C:\PROGRAM FILES\SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS\SWUPDATE\MODELS\BINARY and COPY SPH-M900_MR2_DE03_REL_1.tar, and make sure it is the ONLY file in that folder. Move any other files in there to your desktop if you want to keep them, or you can just delete it.

3. Run the utility and you should have DE03.

i have a big problem guys. i dont have the usb cable for the moment and always thought that it would be ota... but is there a way to flash this via recovery with the sd card?

All you need is any micro usb cable to do the update, there was nothing special with the one that came with the moment.

I suppose you could make a trip to the Sprint store to have them do it unless you can acquire a new cable.

Phone is charging up now and plan to do the upgrade as soon as it's full. Anyone know if I will have to write down all my apps before running the update. All I have is free apps but don't want to loose them. Will the update clear out all my downloaded apps?

Got it all figured out. Had to redownload my apps. Much nicer phone now in my opinion. Just hope it will auto reconnect to my Sync system in my truck everytime I go for a ride. I also hope I can get at least 1 bar of signal at work now. Previously I couldn't even roam. Got tired of looking at the X over the signal bars.

Hi there! I have a Moment with the Cupcake 1.5 on it and I tried to upload to 2.1, but it failed (the only SWupgrade file I could get was the DJ07 one, and after spend nearly 6 hours looking for links for the DE03 one, I just quit) My problem is having my phone with icons of a cellphone trying to sync with a computer and doesn't do anything further. Every time I try to flash it I get the error "e - big partition size" and it just doesn't download anything. Any help?

so I found the samsung link to DE03 after searching through archives:

But it no longer works.... This was also available from Sprint:

but that appears to be gone as well

The only other thing I have found so far is non-samsung links to CL14, to flash and supposedly that will fix the e-big error.... remember this is not hosted by me, samsung or sprint so YMMV:
