free tether not connecting

I'm trying to get a tethering solution for my HP Touchpad. I'm using my son's phone, was able to root it and install two different tethering apps. My laptop, Windows 7, recognizes and connects fine. However, my Palm Pre and my HP Touchpad do not discover the SSID. If I enter the SSID manually it still will not connect.

I'm not sure why or what the problem is.

What channel does the app broadcast in? Must be 12 or below for U.S. wifi bands, 13-14 are for Euro.

If that doesn't help, just know I'm trying to accomplish the same thing using my HP TouchPad.

I've tried several, but don't get the option for anything above 12.

If you find out anything please post it here and i'll do the same.

Ok, no apps worked for me to tether. But what did work was installing CM7 and used the built in tethering feature and it paired right up to my HP Touchpad. But I'm using an HTC EVO 4G.

Doesnt look like cm7 works for the moment, sorry thought I was onto something...heres there site in case you have any of the supported devices.

I would try this method if I were you.

What kernel and rom are you using on the moment? Does the touchpad accept adhoc connections?

I'm told the Touchpad does not accept ad-hoc connections.

I'm using MeatKernel v2.0.9 SDX-Developers

Are all Andriod tethering apps ad-hoc? I have a tethering app on my Pre that works fine with my TouchPad. The speeds are just really, really slow (a minor, but reported, issue).
