Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2
Can you share how you Installed Like2SD and set ext4 one startup and rebooted.
I'm somewhat familiar with linux, but I haven't set the ext4 on this phone yet.
Thanks! - 02-04-2012, 12:56 PM #202

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2
It's been said quite a few times in other threads, but I'll repeat it here, and put it in bold to catch attention for a lot of the people who scroll through really fast and claim they couldn't find things.

APPS IN /SYSTEM DO NOT AFFECT FREE SPACE. The entire point of removing apps from /system/app is to remove things you'd never use otherwise from your app launchers.
Once again, it DOES NOT affect free space. Here is the most simple explanation I can make:
/system, /data and /cache are different partitions. For those who don't know what a partition is, you can think of it this way (though, to be clear, this is NOT what they are, just a way to get a simple understanding!): Think of a hard drive in your computer. Let's say you have 2. One for Windows like most of you probably use, and one where you install apps. Let's say Windows is drive "C:" and you tell all your programs to install on drive "E:"
If you run out of space on E:, would removing system files on C: really affect space on E:? NO.
Even more simply put, /system, /data and /cache all have separate storage space.
I don't mean to sound angry, rude, or calling anyone stupid here, don't get me wrong. But I keep seeing the same thing over and over, I just wanna clear things up. It's also why I'm working on sd-ext for you guys which partitions your sdcard to use as /data (where your apps are installed). - 02-04-2012, 02:57 PM #204

So people can see what is actually on my phone even tho I have 119megs free...lol
Link2sd is really good for these phones. - 02-04-2012, 03:52 PM

If you're enjoying that, you're going to love when sd-ext is posted. No tricks for tricking your system and more than the default amount of space. I installed facebook and g+ as a test and my data soared up to 200MB+ after a little bit of web and social network browsing. You won't need to bother clearing out data anymore if you have decent sd cards.

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2
I'm just using the stock sd card that came with the replenish. Can't find class 6 8 gig. The only issue I have is in link2sd, under second partition, its only 120megs. If I was to do a fresh flash of gb, when I format my sd for a bigger ext partition, I should be able to change it right??
Any eta on when ext2sd will be posted?
Edit: is there a way to change the lockscreen?Last edited by crackers_and_ice; 02-04-2012 at 04:23 PM.

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2
For those of you wondering about the sprint update to the replenish, samsung has released the open source to the kernel. I will use that release to release a modified kernel, so we will get the security update at that point. So no need to do the update if you don't want to.
That being said - has anyone out there gotten and run the update. If so, I need to know the contents of build.prop. Is someone willing to get that to me. I can let you know how if you don't. - 02-04-2012, 05:47 PM

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2
Yes, you choose the partition sizes. You just need to be able to do basic subtraction :P No eta, I can't currently test and still don't know why I fail every other boot.
Look for apps, some have the ability to change it. I like songbird for my media player and the lock screen transforms into a media player instead. - 02-04-2012, 07:43 PM #211
Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2
Quick question. Does someone have the png for the ICS dock? I'm adding all the ICS elements I can and can't find the dock. Uve added the dock icons but can't find the dock.
Ill check songbird out. Thanks. - 02-04-2012, 09:40 PM #212
Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2
I'm not 100% sure on the difference between Moving and Linking. I just know that you Do Not want to remove that SD card after doing any of thise - as obvious as it sounds - because it will mess up all of your shortcuts to any of the apps that were moved with this app.
I noticed that you said you used Titanium Backup to uninstall apps. Have you tried Uninstalling any apps with Link2SD ? It does that well enough for me, that i uninstalled Titanium Backup and saved myself the 3 megs or so. - 02-04-2012, 09:47 PM #213
Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2
You totally kick @##. this will be awesome!
I just purchased an Micro SD Card off Buy.com from earlier this week (8 GB for like 5 or 6 dollars) .. it's a Class 4, so i'm scraping by there, but should still be fast enough.
Buy.com has some pretty ridiculously well-priced SD memory prices. - 02-04-2012, 11:16 PM #214
Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2
How do I pull system apps from the rom image itself??
Want to make a base of just the stuff I use. I pull alot of apps out with Titanium when I first flash it and id like to just pull em out before hand and when I reflash, I'lll have the cleaned version...lol - 02-04-2012, 11:21 PM

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2
I can't believe I didn't realize I only had one primary partition on my new micro sd card. hah, i need to learn how to sleep at night. I just added a partition to my micro sd card using Gparted in Ubuntu and it works well.
Now I'm going to try Link2SD to its full potential. - 02-05-2012, 02:26 AM #219

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2
Have you run this? Are you able to? If you went back to stock GB, you should be able to run this. If so, let me know and I will give you some commands to run so you can pull the data for the rest of us and then firehak can roll the update into his phoenix ROM.
On another note, I hope to have an updated kernel for you all in the next few days - just one more issue to work out. This new kernel will have native EXT4 support as well as the smartassV2 CPU governor. I'll provide details on that in a new post when I am ready to release. This new kernel will be based of of the updated samsung kernel (based on the update you just provided above) - 02-05-2012, 10:04 AM #222

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2
I can't use it, but firehak's brother might still be on stock, in which case firehak can run it on his brothers phone and pull the files we need. There is a path back to stock GB, but it involves a reformat of cache back to RFS. I imagine firehak would know how to do it. I don't know to format.
At least we all now know that it won't run on phoenix rom. thx. - 02-05-2012, 10:23 AM #224
It ran..did what it was supposed to do, but when it came time to finish doing it, I got hit with the android logo and a yellow triangle..lol..I'm guessing it didn't work. Lol
I'm just happy I could pull it for y'all. Hope y'all get some use out of it. I wander what it is..lol..hmm.

Re: [ACS][ROM] PhoeniX ROM 0.2
Going back to stock work does work, /cache just does not get formatted back to rfs. The phone officially looks for /cache/big_long_stupid_name_VERSION_to_VERSION.zip but it can also be manually placed in /sdcard/update.zip and run from stock recovery (so long as the checksum matches the official update). Dunno if CWM allows it. Anyway, if I can use my brothers phone I'll get back to you on it dmrlook.
YES, you absolutely CANNOT flash a rom for another phone onto this phone. If a rom is not made for the phone you flash, you will end up with a brick. No one has done any special theming, I left the default Gingerbread theme. This rom is also "odexed" as it was in stock, meaning theming would be more difficult until I sort out why the phone and texting apps crash when "de-odexed." I'm not sure what you mean by different "Loos versions" though.
