Default Galaxy S3: how to get message vibration/sound on different modes.

    Ok, this is pretty frustrating.

I want my messages to use ONLY sound when on sound mode, and ONLY vibrate when on vibration.

You'd think it's as easy as just pressing the sound/vibration key on the drop down menu, but it's not. I've looked into different threads here and none of them have given me the answer, I know there are two settings - one in the Settings > Sounds and one in the Message menu.

The thing is, the one on the message menu is a switch that just makes SMS vibrate no matter what mode I choose, while in the settings, my vibrate "volume" is cranked all the way up, but if my "always vibrate" in the messages is ticked off, NOTHING happens when I get a message.

So if someone can please explain to me how can I get what I want, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

It sounds like you have a Samsung Galaxy S3... For the best answer I would think you should probably post this question in the forum for that device that corresponds to your carrier:

Hey, I feel your pain, I've been having the same issue but the strange thing is my profiles used to work fine. My silent mode was silent, vibrate only would vibrate, and my sound would only make sounds. Now I'm having the same problem as you and I don't know why. Have you had any luck yet?

I am having the same issue. This occurred when my phone automatically updated to 4.1.1 on January 3rd of this year. Before that, I had no trouble and the setting worked fine. Now, I can't get my phone to ONLY vibrate. It either vibrates AND makes a sound, or does nothing. No vibrate only mode now with the 4.1.1 update and that is extremely frustrating. This needs fixed and I can't believe it hasn't been done by now.
