Samsung Transform
Modle: SPH-M920
Android: 2.2.2

I am using z4zoot to root my phone.
I have downloaded the z4zoot-(which the program calls its self z4mod)
I put the file on my phone
Removed my phone from my computer
I have installed the Program on my phone.
I ran the program. Did it for 30 minutes, then it restarted and was not rooted.
Took out the battery, and ran it again, and hour later, still not rooted, and didn't restart this time.
I uninstalled the program, and re-installed it.
I took it out once more, and let it run over night, still not rooted.
Once again uninstalled it, and re-installed it, took out the battery, and then restarted it to run again. Still did not root.
All it ever says it is doing is -{[(Running Exploit in order to obtain root...)]}- if I leave the page and come back it will say that it is saving a file or something, then go back to the running statement.
What am I doing wrong, and why is it not working?

........the object to flash a quick root w/out SWUpdater is now taking you on a science experiment.

Q: any reason you would not simply flash Vampirefo 2.2.2 or else CWM-Transform.tar using SWUpdater linked to your pc?

I have never dealt with Rooting before, and the person I know that has done it sad to look it up and do that.
I have now looked in to doing it is SWUpdater. Yet I am still trying to figure out how to do that. I am trying to follow a guide on how to do it, but i have not gotten a reply from the person that wrote it. I am truly fearful of crashing, or bricking as i am understanding that it is called, my phone.

Well, the first thing you should know: z4Root has problems on firmware above Eclair, since Transform is on either EB28 or EF09, Froyo, your one-root is not a gr8 idea................otherwise, SWUpdater is a good choice.

First, you download the proper recovery of your choice (clockworkmod or vampirefo), then you navigate on your pc to the 'binary' folder inside SWUpdater + place the 'tar' file of recovery there (ONLY tar file, DO NOT EXTRACT, then go ahead and DELETE any other file inside binary folder........you then back out of SWU.........then open actual SWUpdater program, link your device 'on download mode' via microUSB cable to the pc..........start SWUdater + follow prompts til you complete cycle.......you'll be ROOTED with either recovery mentioned previously.

For detailed step by step tutorial, go to sdx website and find guides + tips in the transform thread..........you'll be glad you did!

Good Luck...........pls post your results here.

.............ONLY 2 sure known ways to permabrick your device:

1......you EXTRACT tar file inside binary folder then run SWUpdater.
2......you use an image file bigger than 120k to replace your boot-image........BOOM!............... (careful w/ those png files, do not go there unless you have done your research)

Of course, lots of ppl have bricked or soft-bricked their devices (.............anybody else?) In a number of ways, these are time-tried *SURE FIRE* ways to brick your phone.

ok so i hope someone can help me out here. i messed up my phone and im sure someone has had this problem and has recovered from it. i rooted my phone a few days ago and downloaded a app to change the boot animation but forgot what the program is called. when i went to change the boot animation and restarted my phone it went into a bootloop and i havent been able to fix it yet. i have been trying to use swupgrade but so far i have had no luck. when i try to install with swupgrade i have to unplug my phone 3-4 times before it will start doing something then at 98% my phone gives me this error at the end on it and swupgrade says it was completed corectly. what should i do? everything else i have tried fails right away. Ive tried odin3 and ive tried putting the files right on my sd card and tried installing from recovery but my phone wont let me do it that way ether. i do have some pictures of what its doing and saying if that will help. PLEASE HELP

AMSS write
SECURE : Signature verification failed
odin_ack : FAIL!!! secure boot error

a bootloop is FIXABLE..........do not panic....at least you're not in a PERMABRICK!!!!!!!!!

Are you able to boot into DOWNLOAD MODE?.....also, you mention recovery.........I hope you mean a 'custom recovery' (clockworkMod or Vampirefo?)....Stock recovery will NOT allow you to mod much of anything, though it is great for updating from stock to EB28, then upgrading again to EF09.

If your device lets you do this, then you should be able to correct your issue.........by FIRST SWUpdating back to STOCK EB28.

SWUpdater is extremely picky about microUSB cables.........if you have a Staples store (or something like it) get yourself a Blackberry microUSB Cable, then at least you diminish the many times that SWUpdater shuts you OUT, now that you're modding your device you will be visiting SWUpdater many many times.......make sure it allows you ACCESS by getting a good quality cable.

*very important* Make sure you have the correct "md5.tar file" downloaded into your pc, so that you are able to place it into the binary folder inside SWUpdater (make sure it is the ONLY file inside the binary folder).........the correct STOCK md5 file is 'MR1_DI11A_REL.tar'

When SWUpdater completes your wipe back to stock you can begin the process of building your set-up back to the point where you change your boot animation.

Let us know how this goes 4 U.

k i can get into download mode and not sure if i do have the right md5.tar file. ive been on so many sites and tried so many things but nothing has worked yet or at least not worked the hole way through. i did take some pics with my blackberry that i can upload or send if they will help. if possible could u post a link to the md5 file i should be using and/or other files that i should be using?

Yup, those pix clearly show a wrong file or wrong something........BUT easy, take it easy, soon your device will be SINGING!

Here ya go, the One-Stop for all things Rooted Transform...................................courtesy of MpGrimm2 over at SDX-developers...............................be sure to hi-five a big Thank You to MpGrimm2 if his extremely up to date compilation of fixes and files is of help to you.

Dude, first off, the screen-shots are talking about a REVO3 ROM, I don't know if that will work on the Transform. I've also been trying to find a better CWM version for the Transform, but seems no-one has taken the time to port the better versions to M920. Go thru the link posted above, get the CWM_recovery tar and use IT in SWUpdater.
