Headphone jack broken - Options?
I bought my daughter a Transform Ultra back in May. She started having issues with the speakers, and I think I've tracked it down to a faulty headphone jack. Apparently the mechanism that determines whether a headphone plug is inserted is faulty, so the phone keeps switching between speaker and headphone output every second or so. That makes it impossible to use the phone for calls, and apps like Youtube or music players are constantly pausing the content when the phone thinks the headphones that aren't there are being removed.
I took it to a Sprint service center, but they found a small amount of water corrosion in the case and wouldn't even look at it. I'm wondering what the process is for returning a phone to Samsung for repair or replacement is, or if there might be a way to remove or replace the headphone jack myself.
Anyone have any suggestions?
