Want to root but...

Hi. Noob here in need of direction. Im thinking of rooting my wife's Transform. Already updated to Froyo but want to try to speed the Transform up. What is the best root method and what ROM could help speed it up?

ubuntdroid is the best thing I've seen. My wife's transform is currently not rooted but quickly heading that route. Search for speed up tips on google, there's a post on these forums somewhere that has some good non-root tips. Best advice though is throw it at a wall really hard and get a better phone. If my wife wouldn't stab me for wasting money she'd have a new one. We both hate it.
