I have seen this with MANY other HTC owners. I'm lead to believe it is a dock issue and many have moved the dock and phone in front of an AC vent to combat the problem.

In order to change global mode on galaxy s3, you can disable this and switch back to LTE/CDMA and "deny" data roaming by going to Settings -> More Settings -> Mobile Networks. OR Just enable it.
