Root the device would be what I suggest. Doesn't hurt device, gives you full control, and can be easily "unrooted" if needed.

OK, download Titanium Backup. It will let you uninstall any app.

Go into Playstore then search for Google maps then open it. You should see an option there to uninstall.

Uninstall the whole app not just the update then download it again.

Have you guys tried clearing cache and data in the maps app? If so and didn't help uninstall maps and reinstall from the Playstore.

I assume you flashed a custom rom. In that case you need to flash the modem files. They don't include baseband/modem files.

I use TrevE's WIFI tether app, works great.

I'm running Scott's stock rooted version. No problems.

If he has lost IMEI flashing new modem probably won't help. There are restore methods over at XDA if this is the case and he didn't back it up.

Go into settings then status and look at the IMEI. Hopefully it's not zeroes.

Thanks guys, I suspect some VZW bloat has messed things up.

Anybody read if any of the other carries are having an issue with their 4g after the update? If not that may point to some of VZW's bloat being the problem. Just a thought.
