Why I'm ditching my Nexus 7 for a lower spec'd Acer Iconia

I've owned both the 2012 and 2013 Nexus 7's, and while they were both fantastic tablets, over time two things have become a huge issue for me. The first being the size. The Nexus 7 kind of feels like a big phone. This wasn't a big deal when I had a 4-inch phone, but now I'm not getting too much...

    Flappy Android

If you go to the Settings and tap multiple times on the Android Version section like usual, you get a special screen. At first it's just a lollipop. If you swipe a few times, it changes color, but eventually it leads to this Flappy Android game, which is pretty cool. However, it's IMPOSSIBLE...

Check out my phone and tablet concepts! :D

Heheheh :) If these were real I would probably take the Dwarf 2 because I have tiny hands lol

Check out my phone and tablet concepts! :D

I didn't put prices on these images because if this were an actual website there would be a "buy now" button, and then a page to select your carrier, and then a separate page to buy from the carrier or whatever and that would be too much work. Plus I didn't want to add too many elements to each...

    Dream Device: Late 2014

I designed my dream devices in Photoshop. I posted them in this thread if you're interested. (Shameless self promotion I know) However, they would have to cost as much as every other flagship device. Have to be realistic here. Also, you forgot to mention storage. The phone concepts I made come...

Check out my phone and tablet concepts! :D

Thanks. And yes, I think everyone wants batteries like that haha. There's the Droid Turbo, at least.

Check out my phone and tablet concepts! :D

I made some smartphone concepts and a tablet concept for fun, but because I'm a huge nerd I wanted to make the fake OEM, "Aura" I came up with to be realistic. So, this is Aura's 4th flagship smartphone, their 4th flagship tablet, their 3rd flagship phablet, and their 2nd flagship "mini" phone...

    Bigger battery not better??? :(

Wow, how ironic. I might go one day with the stock battery, and then another with the third party one just to see if it at least makes some of a difference. Otherwise I may still have time to return the battery. Posted via the Android Central App

    Bigger battery not better??? :(

So the I replaced my Galaxy S3's 2100 mAh battery with a third party 3420 mAh battery. I already calibrated the new battery twice, but I havent noticed any changes in battery life. My battery was at 100% this morning when I woke up around 6:30-ish. Its 10:45 and my battery is now at 65% already...

Google to retire Wallet for digital purchases API, affecting third-party merchants

I put my money in my Google Wallet account and I use my Google Wallet Card all the time. I like it more than just using my regular debit card and having to wait longer to see my purchase history in my actual online bank account. Will this affect me at all, or will this only affect NFC payments...

Feeling down on the Nexus line

The Nexus line is still just meant to be a set of reference devices. They only raised the prices this year because the 6 & 9 have higher (and thus more expensive) specs, and most importantly, Google does not want to undercut their partners. Google would be screwing their partners over if they...

Do you want a 2k or 4k display phone?

So is the new fad toward 2k and 4k displays on smartphones an actually useful feature people want in smartphones, or are OEMs just desperate to find something, ANYTHING, to gain leverage in the spec wars? Can anyone REALLY tell the difference between 1920 x 1080 and 2560 x 1440 on a 5-inch...

    Anyone Receive New Gmail OTA?

The new Gmail app is GORGEOUS. I hope Google adds the Gmail Android app to the Chrome Web Store, or at least redesign the Gmail website to look exactly like the app. It's just so good!

What's special about the Nexus Player?

Hmm... so I think the Nexus Player's advantage over Chromecast is that, instead of just casting your phone, tablet or laptop to a screen, the Player is a device of its own, so you can multitask and do some other thinks you can't with Chromecast. And developers will have to design apps...

Is 8.9" the best tablet size?

The biggest complaint against 7 inch tablets is that the screen looks cramped on certain apps, while the biggest complaint against 10 inch tablets is that it feels too big. But there are plenty of 8 and 9 inch tablets that offer a compromise. For general use (reading books, web browsing...

The Nexus 7 was discontinued today

Retailers will only have the Nexus 7 until they run out of stock. Since Google isn't selling it on their website anymore I'm pretty sure they stopped manufacturing Nexus 7's altogether.

Nexus 9... so I hated the thought of 4:3

I agree that 4:3 is better for pretty much everything but video, but the problem for me at least is that I use my Nexus 7 to watch videos all the time. I don't have a TV in my room, and being able to curl up and watch a movie on my tablet is far more comfortable than watching a movie on my...
