    Quick Settings

I think you'll find this link useful: PSA: Unused Dynamic Quick Settings Toggles On Android Lollipop Will Disappear After A Month, But This Trick Makes Them Go Away Now tl;dr version: 1) Set the date on the phone back in the past by 30 days or more. 2) Tap the invert colors toggle, then change...

ART vs Dalvik - Worth it?

No, you're safe. The switch to ART from Dalvik definitely does not wipe data, nor is there a wipe involved with switching back. On 4.4.4, the Droid MAXX definitely feels like it has a new lease on life. The visual animations and scrolling are noticeably smoother, performance has ticked up a...

just got the 4.4.4 soak test

Yes, share bug is finally fixed - you can finally choose which app to share again. Camera seems the same in the default mode, but I think there's improvement in HDR. (Though I never thought the camera was that bad in the first place, so your milage may vary.) Posted via Android Central App

just got the 4.4.4 soak test

Thank you so kindly for taking the time out to look this up. As it happens, I did some homework on XDA and found guidance that helped me getting the OTA installed. I came back here to effort my post with the news. I'm pleased to report it went without a hitch - and likewise relieved to see the...

just got the 4.4.4 soak test

Understanding this sounds like a n00b question, how did you apply the update? Did you rename the downloaded file to update.zip and put it in the root of internal storage for the MAXX so you could flash via stock Recovery? I'm fully stock and would like to apply the update, but I've not tried...

just got the 4.4.4 soak test

That was a while ago, and I'd be surprised if Verizon would block it now. That would be enough for me to dump them and activate a Nexus 5 on AT&T. Part of the problem is this change log is almost identical to the one we got for the original KitKat OTA. Feels very phoned in. And Isis was enabled...

'enter' or 'return' key on Google keyboard in hangouts?

I've found this annoying, but thankfully there's an easy fix. If you want to use the enter key in Hangouts or any other chat program that restricts the key, simply hold down shift and the smiley key becomes the enter key. If you're a fan of gesture typing as I am, then you need only drag from...

    DROID MAXX: 4.4.2 update?

Not crazy, but probably a little too optimistic. The extra requirements are more likely to be the usual soul-sucking headaches and drama with Verizon red tape. (Bloat, overly conservative bandwidth management, who knows what else.) If we were getting 4.4.3, I would have expected something a...

Suddenly Droid MAXX battery last less than 24 hours

This frustrates me immensely. Google forcing plus down our throats is getting to be quite obnoxious. There is a way to sign out, but it's been deliberately made less convenient in the hopes people will just give up looking for the command. In G+, go to settings, then tap your account. Look for...

Swype vs. SwiftKey 3 (or Other Keyboard Apps)

There's been some talk of this in the Swype beta forums, so I'm assuming it's a known issue. Whenever Swype loads into memory for the first time, it can take a minute or two before the keyboard appears. After that, all is well until reboot. I'm seeing the same thing here, but with the latest...

    Chrome Bookmarks

Awesome tip - gave up this issue before the jb update. Stuff like this is why I check the forums routinely. Thank you: so glad to have that bloat crap out of my bookmarks.

    Updated this morning

I think you're on to something - the update was more than likely to add support for ISIS. Verizon mentioned the Droid RAZR HD would be updated to support ISIS this week, so more than likely that's what this is about. http://news.verizonwireless.com/news/2012/10/ISIS-mobile-wallet.html The only...

Weird HDMI/Wi-Fi issue: wifi connection fails only when HDMI is plugged in

I had precisely this exact same issue on the Rezound whenever I connected the phone via MHL. Never could figure out the cause.. I've always assumed it was a hardware limitation but now I'm wondering if that's by design in Android. Shame too because watching movies via Google play would be nice...

Rezound ICS Update : Breaks Google Play Movies?

So after conferring with Google play support, it looks like the app has an issue with HTC phones right now. They created a ticket to flag the problem. Concerning the web playback, I had to enable 3rd party cookies to resolve the issue. Hopefully the app update comes out sooner rather than later...

Rezound ICS Update : Breaks Google Play Movies?

I've been searching around the net and have found some references to my trouble for the Rezound and other phones, but nothing at any of the major android sites. Question for anyone who can check: if you're on a Rezound running ICS, are you able to play movies rented or purchased from Google Play...

Does Global RUU include the Android Beam?

Yea, the SD card thing sounds like it would be only a sort of half-fix. That said, it's probably better than nothing. I think Beam will become more useful over time once the hardware and software as standard as Bluetooth. Paying for things with a phone will likely become as ubiquitous as credit...

Does Global RUU include the Android Beam?

Nope. Android Beam relies on NFC technology, which is hardware the Rezound does not have. I'm assuming most high end phones will have NFC going forward, but I imagine it won't get popular until the iPhone embraces it. Here's hoping Apple includes NFC in the iPhone 5.

    2 types of factory resets.

I'm also interested to know the answer to this one.. I've never tried a factory reset from HBOOT, but if there's a chance it can solve the issues with the browser that I've been seeing, it's definitely worth a shot. =) Edit: Ok, so I moved the RUU zip to another folder on my SD card and then...

Fast boot and no Fast boot the same on ICS?

There is no possible way the app doesn't close with a battery pull. What's happening here is a simple save state. The idea is to make it look like the browser never closed by using, essentially, a session restore feature. =) Android has better multitasking than the iPhone, but it can only do so...

Fast boot and no Fast boot the same on ICS?

I don't think that's what's happening. I wondered about that too when I was on the earlier leaks. Under gingerbread, fast boot made a world of difference but I never used it because of the side effects. Under ICS, I noticed that the boot times were much improved and so I began to wonder if the...
