Was it working fine with other ripped movies beforehand? Are you using the stock movie app? Sometimes certain apps won't play certain filetypes. VLC player is usually my go-to player in these types of situations.

From past personal experience (and from working cellular retail for 8+ years) I usually always recommend a case and a quality screen protector. With my current phone (Nexus 6) I have both a case and a screen protector. It really comes down to personal preference, though.

Go into Settings > Apps > select the defaulted app > there should be a button that allows you to "clear defaults" under the clear cache option. Hopefully this helps!

Are you using an app? Some banking apps have disabled that feature. Try logging into your bank accounts using a browser and see if that works, as it worked for me.

Are you using the stock video player? If so, go into the Video app in Apps and try clearing the cache. If that doesn't work you can either try another video player (like VLC) or my personal favorite: factory data resetting the phone (please back-up your stuff beforehand!)
