i noticed this once or twice-i'm not sure the gallery always updates immediately. you might have luck using the app SDScan to force a scan, then check the gallery.

yeah, it's a server. everything goes through playon on the pc first, then to your device. it's not free, but it works well in my experience. if you are using it to transcode local files, then the speed of your pc could be an issue. i don't think it needs to transcode streaming video like hulu...

yeah, it's normal. i've considered rooting just to be able to uninstall the stock bloat, but i don't think it would have much effect on battery life so i don't think i'll root for that reason. i could be wrong, but i think the only significant improvements in battery life will come from ota...
