Have ya tried cleaning out the charging port? I normally just use one of those thin plastic toothpicks, or a small piece of cardboard and compressed air to get any debris out.

Try making sure you're typing the numbers with your palm towards the bottom of the screen (as far away from the proximity sensor as possible) and make sure none of your fingers or anything else gets near the proximity sensor. Good luck!

The update probably cleared the dalvik cache, so android had to rebuild it and that was what it was doing while "optimizing" the apps.

Re: Captivate glide issues, help please??? Make sure there isn't any debris in the charger/usb port of the phone. Try blowing it out with compressed air and use a small, thin piece of cardboard to try to clean it out. If that don't work, it'll probably be a software issue needing a factory...
