I have a similar issue, but for me it does not matter whether it is plugged in or not. "Settings>display>screen timeout>never turn off. Not sure, but wouldn't this work?" I have a Droid Charge and I tried to follow the above instructions. However, I do not see the choice "never turn off" only...
