Lack of SD card will be deal breaker for me. I joined android years ago because I hated iPhone iTunes crap. Now seems like is all the same. I am probably in a minority but is nice to be able to move your data without worrying that it may be lost if your phone breaks down.

Thanks fredo, I already used the gs3 root website and got the latest version.

I was able to install cwm recovery and flash teamepicv5, but did not get fully rooted, may be is not the same file to root for the kitkat update. I like to know if anyone has it root for kitkat but haven't had much help so far. Sorry

Sure why not, I replaced the board because I broke it in a bike fall. But your option seems good If the problem resides on the connection port only.

Another option will be to replace the logic board, I did it on mine. You can replace it yourself not hard to do. I had it done for 75$, but you canbuy a board on ebay fo 40$.

I have my Galaxy back! after being ignored by Samsung and sprint, I took it to a repair shop by my house and for 75$, put a new logic board and was able to activate it at sprint with no problem. Phone runs great.

I took it to a repair shop and after some testing, they think that the culprit may be the motherboard. Somebody that specializes on that will check some test points on the board to see if it can be repaired or will have to be replaced.

You most likely be getting a refurbished, I did when I had a problem with mine. Actually you can't tell the difference is like brand new phone. It only took a couple of days to get the replacement. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Android Central Forums
