My bad. I see that with update is standard for Gmail to be pushed automatically.

I did another (3rd) reset and I'm now able to get my Gmail synced without a freeze up / need to reboot. I haven't downloaded a thing. I don't even want to download the Gmail update. Until I can send an email, make a phone call, and maybe get wi-fi to stay connected - I'm not adding anything...

From stock 2.1 to OTA Froyo. I just ran my 3rd factory reset and my phone has finally stopped freezing up at the home screen. I was even able to set up my Gmail. No more control over data sync / push to email accounts? Why keep the setting/option if it's to be unusable? Or is Gmail now...

Mine has been noticeably hotter since Froyo update.

Lots of bugs on mine. Wi-fi can't hold any signal. Haptic feedback is gone. Continually freezing screen.. I haven't noticed the contacts issue though. Have rebooted a bunch of times, battery pulls, factory restore.. my phone is a mess.
