advantages of rooting/flashing rom -- things to do

I didn't find a comprehensive list anywhere of what you GAIN from rooting. Some are obvious, but I'm curious as to what everyone else is up to.

I'll start the list. I have done most of these things, but I'm now I've got the bug, and am wondering what else there is for me to try out!

For the record, I'm working with Sholes 2.0.3. If anyone else is kind enough to add to the list, perhaps it would be useful to indicate what rom is being used.

1. Install 2.1 apps (keyboard, launcher, music, gallery, etc...)
2. Wifi Tether
3. Skin the notification bar (smoked glass, etc)
4. FLAC support
5. Overclock
6. Remove pesky hard-coded apps (Corporate Calendar, Email, etc...)
7. Change Boot Animation
8. Milestone Apps/Widgets
9. G1 IM App (wifi capable)
10. 2.0 style lock screen

What else is there that folks might find interesting?

I've never seen the milestone player or photo editor. Off to look at screenshot =)

I use the pattern unlock, so I didn't bother with the lock screen stuff.
