Default Rooting an Android and Updates

so rooting my android is a lot like jailbreking an iPhone, where I have to wait till someone comes out with the latest 'root' for the latest android update? if so, the newest 'root' hasn't come out for yesterday's android update?

I think if you search through the Evo forums this is mentioned several times. Almost any time Android is updated your going to have to wait for a new root exploit to be found.. and as of right now I don't think there's is one if you updated to Gingerbread.

I hated that about jailbreaking the iPhone. I wouldn't need to 'root' this phone if it weren't for apps that NEED it

As far as I can see, rooting for new phones should be easy, search?
