Call and Message logs, save volumes

Hiya
I've had a few billing problems with Vodafone. They are now sorted, but I needed to access my Call Logs and Message Logs from early December. When I looked, those calls and texts were missing, yet I haven't deleted ANY calls or texts since I acquired the new handset on 2nd of December. On my old Samsung S2, it was possible to select the volume (amount) of messages stored and so on.

HOW CAN I SET THE AMOUNT OF MESSAGES AND CALL LOGS STORED ON MY PHONE?
IS THERE A LIMIT?
CAN THE LIMIT BE ALTERED?
