From a Q&A Sunday:
Q:
I will be upgrading my phone soon and I am hoping to keep it small. I was bummed with the moto x's growth spurt.

Thoughts on the best small form factor phone available? Is there anything in the pipeline to hold off for?

Xperia 3 Compact. Check it out.

When one realizes where they are coming from it 's easy to see their point of a "larger" screen.
I mean typing and doing a Q&A on the go is a PITA to begin with let alone with a small screen.
On the link it appears that Phil is using a 2014 Moto X as his device.
Not positive it is his daily driver but it appears so.
Don't know if I'm ready for the convergence of radio/camera/phone/GPS/Telegraph/TV/computer/research dept/friend/foe/companion;
Doesn't matter, ready or not it's here.

That's the beauty of choice, although nowadays it seems larger screens are the norm... I can't go back to a 4 inch screen... it's just too small now.

In a way, I understand.
However:
Carrying around a mini-TV is not my idea of fun.
Down the road I'll think about increasing screen size...if I have a choice.
Regarding "smaller" devices the Xperia 3 compact doesn't have much competition.
2013 Moto X is a bit bigger plus doesn't have the horsepower to match it.
Of course it's still a very capable phone. Find I miss some of it's endearing qualities.
Once L:5 goes mainstream many of those features are baked in...or so I hear.
Lollipop has issues from all indications.
Rather endure the wait for Lollipop than deal with a limited device waiting for fixes.
Don't know how Sony does with updates, will find out soon enough.

Jerry endorses Sony's mini-flagship. Reluctantly, it seems.
Then again, while I think Sony did a good job, there is not much competition
Still, can't they come right out and say:" This Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is a great phone."
It has great specs plus Sony had a [fairly] soft touch doing their Android makeover.
Hey, some of their apps are even useful.
There, I said it.
