how can i get my data off my z3 compact when th lcd and didgitalizer are broken?

I need to get my pics and contacts and calendar entries before I send off for insurance. I need a way to unlock device. I have mhl to hdmi but no way to enter my pattern.

Plug it into your computer and pull the pictures off. Are your pics on the sdcard, that's where I have mine. If so just pop it into your new phone. Your contacts are backed up to your Google account unless you turned that off.

Your contacts and calendar might already be backed up. Try visiting https://www.google.com/calendar/ and https://contacts.google.com/ and see if your info is there. If it is, your phone will reload the info when get it back (if it's been wiped or they give you a new phone).

Your photos might be at: https://photos.google.com/ but I don't know if it'll automatically copy the photos back to your phone when you get it back.

I don't know anything about MHL->HDMI cables, but a quick websearch says they might work with touchscreen monitors. If you can use it to get past the lock screen you might be able to go to the settings to turn off the lock screen and then replace the MHL cable with a regular USB cable and backup the data (my phone won't let me access my data via a USB cable unless I first enter my pattern to unlock the phone).
