home screen space Q's

Went from z1s to lg g3 now z3.

I'm wondering two things...

1. Is there anyway to make the icons on the home screen smaller?

2. When I was setting up my home screens there was a Google search bar at the very top. Now I can't get it back or put anything in the space. Any ideas??

Easiest way to change your icons is to download Nova Launcher from the Play Store and then just buy a free or paid icon pack.
