Re: Epic Manual Now Available
I've poked around in the system dumps that are out. In the framework-res apk the images for the puzzle unlock are there so it hasn't been removed entirely. Here's hoping that a froyo update will give it back as well as the other stripped items. No, the feature is the unlock animation. Like the puzzle unlock or the "screen-flick" unlock. This is in the other Galaxy S phones, but not on the Epic. Thanks for the links!

Oddly, on page 22 of the manual they recommend turning off Wifi to help conserve battery life.
Now I've always left Wifi on so that I don't waste battery life searching/maintaining my 3G service.Turn Wi-Fi off when not in use. (See “Turning Wi-Fi
On and Off” on page 177.)

If your wifi is on but you're not connected to wifi, it'll search for wifi and for 3G.
Once you have a 3G connection verified, I don't believe it drains battery any faster than 2G unless it actually gets used... but I also have no idea what I'm talking about here so take that with a grain of salt. - 08-26-2010, 05:57 PM #18
True, but some things may be set to push updates and notifications. Even if you think you're not using wifi at the time, the other apps may indeed be. You'd have to turn off ALL the updates in order for the wifi to not waste too much battery. Since the signal has to travel a shorter distance though, I think that's why you get better battery life as opposed to 3g/4g.

Oh, yeah, for sure wifi uses less battery than 3G. I'm saying if you're not connected to wifi at the time, it'll spend battery scanning for a wifi hotspot it recognizes *as well as* for a 3G signal, which is why they recommend turning it off
