Default don't jump on this immediately

I was stoked to get my craptivate soon after release, and spent the next 3 weeks and one exchange being utterly disappointed. Between GPS and battery life alone it was a very frustrating experience. I was also disappointed with the screen rez. While color saturation and contrast is excellent, the screen looks pixilated and not nearly as smooth as even larger screens like the LCD screen on the EVO. In the end, even the screen is a deal breaker for me. The Epic looks to have a much better start, but I would advise people to hold off until the first couple of weeks have teased out any major problems.

That "rule" applies to every product ever introduced in the entire history across the world. Pretty vast aint it? Like a Galaxy....S

I will unequivocally tell you...my EPIC screen is way beyond my EVO screen and I see NO PIXELATION...and since I'm a photographer, I'm rather picky about what I'm looking at.

I've loaded about 100 of my better images on it for show and tell when I'm in the field and they look stunning on this screen.

Screen wouldn't be fixed after a couple of weeks.. if the screen doesn't work for you then waiting for it won't help.

Just becuase you weren't satisified doesn't mean everyone is like yourself.

Hmm... might be a few quick patches they release for it.

Right now, I'm debating on moving to Sprint for the EVO or Epic, or staying with VZW and getting a DroidX or Droid2. I'm currently using a Storm2, and I'm not too thrilled with way it's treated like the Redheaded Stepchild of the Blackberry family.

Anyone got any 'real world' comparisons, other than the GPS lock issues?

I am looking forward to seeing how the next couple of months play out. My Hero will be replaced with an Epic or Evo in November, barring some unexpected new device announcement for the holidays.

Thank you. I guess the FAIL was on my part. I was actually headed to update my post after I discovered the fix on this thread:

Apparently the GPS settings need to be enabled in two places before it will work. Needless to say I am happy again.

Quick! Someone notify Palmsolo (Youtube) who returned his Epic because of this issue.

I always wait on new tech...if anything Sprint's been real good about setting up updates within the first couple of weeks. With this new society of specific-use forums WE are the true R&D departments for these companies...nothing can match 10's of 1000's of cell phone geeks looking for a reason to be happy (or dissapointed.)
