Epic 4G Panorama only taking two photos?

Not sure, I'm at work at no puter here to find out. The panorama with shoot up to eight to make the shot almost a full 180 degrees and I think that was only 5 so it can vary.

sent from my Epic through the cosmos

May be an issue with my phone but I was trying to take a panoramic at a college football game Saturday and it would only let me take 2 photos before auto-stitching together. I would take the first shot, move right (and see the green box outline show the match point), hit the shutter button again and it would say "processing" and show the combined picture. I wanted to take up to the 8.

Anyone else having that issue or am is it hopefully user error?

It takes the pictures automatically as you pan, and stops when you press the shutter.

It resizes down to VGA to keep file sizes under control. I wish it would let me select resolution though...

As for the pano feature, make sure you only hit the shutter once for where you want to start taking the panorama, then just rotate the phone, you'll see a series of green boxes as you move around, line up the phone with those green boxes, but DO NOT press the shutter again. The camera will take individual pictures on it's own, and will stop on it's own when it's finished.

If you want individual shutter, and resolution control, check out AndroPan, which takes panorama's in series of 3 shots, but I don't think it works as well as the built in pano...

few pics

Taken with the stock camera app, used the Macro setting. Not very fancy pictures, but my stepson collected some rocks and I thought they would make interesting pictures. The biggest rock there is probably the size of a quarter.

Just started playing with vignette, and it does seem to do something different to output as opposed to just slapping a filter on the stock camera.

Taking a pic of my scotch with the stock camera resulted in 1.5MB sized pics. Vignette pics were 2.1MB in size.

I wonder if it's possible to get the camera's RAW output...

The final file size has no relation with the output from the camera. One app might save the JPEG file in one compression setting while another could use a totally different setting.

I think it's safe to assume the raw output(note: not actually the RAW format) from the Android API is the same. Vignette will do additional processing to that output and save the resulting image in its own JPEG compression setting.

booggerg, those are some absolutely stunningly beautiful pictures. The ones with the sun shining and the grass blew my mind. Were those taken with the stock app or vignette? Makes me want to go outside and just start taking pictures

Thanks! Yes they were all taken with vignette. It doesn't necessarily take better pix than the stock app, it's just that its got great post processing of the pix afterwards.
