Ringer volume

So I like how you can adjust the ringer volume using the rocker switch on the side. However, why does it not also effect the notification volume? Putting my phone ringer on vibrate only is kind of pointless if the notification sound is still going to chime. Please tell me there is a way to have the rocker switch effect both simultaneously.

Go to the homescreen. Then menu > settings > sound and display > ringer volume. There should be a checkbox for "Use incoming call volume for notifications".

If this option isn't available, then I have no clue. But it is there for my Hero, so I dont see why it wouldn't be for the Epic...
