Blank screen when I go into my Apps on the Epic

I've notice when I go into most of my Apps yesterday and today that my information was gone. I went into my basic apps like messaging and email and there was nothing. Then I go into the apps that I downloaded and it was a totally black screen also. I got little scared so then I took the battery out and put it back in and restarted the phone. Everything was restored and I was back in business. Can anyone tell me is their something I need to do so this won't happen again or is this a recurring issue for a lot of us? because this happen twice.

odd... never happened to me on any android phone (epic or hero... and I put my hero through the ringer).
