There is big commotion over at android forums that epic has its upload speed capped at 150kbps over 3g. It is being tested using speedtest app. Unless I am missing such discussion on these forums, I didnt see any thread about this issue here at android central. Have you tested your upload speed on 3g?? What are your results? Do you think it is really capped?

1.32 down and .15 up, it jumped very briefly up to .20 but then stuck direct at .15 - definitely would be consistent with throttling.

Is this the "higher tier" 3G service all the sprint reps have told us we are all supposed to be getting for those of us not in a 4G area and still paying an extra $10 a month? Kind of bull**** if you ask me.

$10 more and slower speeds than every single handset I have had (Treo Pro, Treo 800w, Touch Pro, Touch Pro 2) in past few years. Will not go above 150 upload. No wonder qik and other video chat is working on Evo and not on Epic.

There for sure is some sort of data cap.

I've run Speedtest on numerous occasions in many areas anywhere from 1bar-full bars.

My download speed generally is 900-1500kbps.

But NEVER has my upload speed been higher than 155kbps.

Im in Ft Lauderdale. I have been wondering about this myself. I know of one wimax area, us1 and commercial blvd that i can pull about 6mbps down and 4mbps up. On my wifi at home i get slightly less...however, on 3g, i may only get only 1 mbps down and .5 up 1 out of every 15 test...The normal i always get is around 260 kpbs down and 130 up...quite disappointing 3g results.

From what i read and speaking to many people, they say Sprints 3g network is really starting to get bogged down and bottleneck with all the data people are using, similar to what att was and is experiencing in certain areas and its not any of the phones but something sprint needs to fix with backhaul.

Just did a speed test and I got 1.07mbps down and 150kbps up. Every time I compare to my brothers speed in different areas around SF I always get beat. One has Verizon the other att.

I have an EVDO tower close by and I'm getting about the same EVDO speeds I got with my Samsung M620 phone with USB tethering. My average is about 400 kilobits per second down and 140 up. In all the testing I've done over the last few years I've never gotten more than 150 kbs up--and that's with 3 different EVDO phones but all with Sprint.

Unless I get an update that fixes my 4G (can't connect at all anywhere in Baltimore) I'll have to swap this phone for a new one or even ditch the Epic and go back to my old phone.
