I applied the update as you stated, and Wow. Very impressive. I got 969 down and 614 up in 3G. Wifi and 4G were both off. I never knew that 3G could go so fast.

Also make sure you have all the original bloatware on your Epic, in case you deleted them.
It will not install if for example, Qik or Sprint Zone are missing.Thanked by: - 10-02-2010, 12:51 PM #4

Works great! I'm getting 1047kbps download and 489kbps upload now in 3G. Thanks again.
- 10-02-2010, 05:25 PM #13
True!
The download and upload speeds are a lot faster on 3g now! I have 2 theories
1. Sprint wanted the 4g speeds to seem even more impressive then they already are.
2. Or Samsung was busy packing so many features into this phone and tweaking the settings for the 4g radio the phone was not optimized for 3g
Regardless internet browsing and streaming on 3g have been stellar even before this update and I dont expect that to change. I think this whole upload speed thing got blown way outta porportion - 10-02-2010, 05:27 PM #14
Couldn't agree more! haha!

Nice fix! I also noticed that the battery charges all the way up to 100% now, instead of stopping at 97%.

I was going to wait this time for the update to get pushed to my phone; but, then, no. I couldn't, lol.
Wow. I thought the internet was pretty fast in the first place. Coming from a blackberry it blew it away. This is amazing. Now I'm testing the wifi sleep issue. Hope it works.
I noticed they didn't fix the lack of a key tone on swype keyboard from last update losing it. :-/ - 10-02-2010, 10:03 PM #22
The lag when sending large email attachments is gone too. SWEET!
Does anyone know the email address to send samsung a technical issue. I want to let them know about the key tone. - 10-02-2010, 11:38 PM #23
For some reason, my update didn't work. Perhaps it was because I deleted some bloatware. Either way, I reinstalled the bloatware and tried this method, and it still will not run the updater. I'm stuck on DI07. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, "press power" should be "hold down power". When you are attempting to get to the manual update screen, you have to hold down all three buttons until it comes up. If you don't, it will power on normally.
