I know it includes the trial for Sprint's new visual voicemail-to-text service. I don't know what else it's supposed to improve though.

You might have better luck checking with the Evo forum. Don't have much experience with the Evo, sorry!

I got the update and just cancelled the notification for the free trial. No problems so far.

My problem is with the "display name" setting. It comes up with a very, ahem, "immature" display name that i must have used for some messaging service in the past. I'm curious where the voicemail software gets its info. So i changed the display name to something appropriate, uninstalled the update, reinstalled the update, and the offensive name was still there. Any ideas besides be more responsible with my info?

The "Display name" is stored at the Voicemail server. It will archive your previously entered display name each time you "clear data" or reinstalling the visual voicemail app.

I didn't install or uninstall any voice mail updates but as of this morning I'm having the same issue with the update icon. It says mandatory update is available but when I touch it, it says checking for updates then it says no updates available. The icon never goes away.

Yeah that's what I'm having too. I did have the update on my phone but I couldn't get my voicemails so I uninstalled the update to try it again and now it wont let me. Sprint wants to replace my phone but if you are having the same problem I doubt it's our phones. I don't want to exchange mine for a refurb and cause I have mine setup the way I want. Funny thing is I flashed epic experience rom and my voicemail updated on that rom so I restored back to stock and it still won't work. WTF???

Notification will not install and will not clear notification from my phone. Sprint says it is a known issue. It comes from Droid. They want to upgrade your voice to convert to text. Free for 30 days. Sprint admits nobody wants it. I just wish i could make it go away from my phone and I would not have to look at it everytime i touch my phone.

Sprint says it is a known issue. It is coming from Droid. There is no way around a "mandatory" update. This updates voicemail so it will convert to text. Free trial for 30 days. Sprint says nobody wants it. We seem to be stuck in limbo for an voicemail update we don't want, that won't install and won't let us clear the notification. Hope we get a solution soon.

    Default Sprint voicemail update

I installed the updates for sprint voicemail since I was using google voice. Not I'm getting a message in the notification bar telling me there is a mandatory update. When I click on this notification it checks for updates; then, tells me there are none.

    How do I fix this?

I have the same message and I'm getting the same results. Not sure why it is doing that.
