Default Sprint Navigator is now TeleNav GPS navigator

This is over in the EVO Forum also but I don't look over there.

Free upgrade with speech recognition and cleaner Ui, Sweet!
The only way you can upgrade is by downloading it from the link.

Saw this over at XDA yesterday. Downloaded and installed. App is pretty sweet! Nice to have this in conjunction with Google Nav.

I've been holding off on upgrading since the guy from TeleNav said it's only for the Evo (tho technically I'm sure they all use the same version). Any issues while using it on the Epic?

Really? The upgrades to the newer version seem like welcome additions. I just might try it myself.

I downloaded the apk. When I click on it to install it says: "There is a problem parsing the package". Am I doing something wrong?

Downloaded and installed on my Epic. Looks good but I only get "Unable to generate route" on any destination that I choose. Not sure if this is my phone (running Froyo) or the app. Not too useful in this state.

But if you click through the download link, it takes you to a Samsung download link.

Seems to work well but as far as I can see, it doesn't do anything google nav doesn't .

Uninstalled and cleared all data. Reinstalled and it's now working fine.

This just adds more garbage to the phone... Not only do you have a stupid "Get Premium" banner ad/button you also have "ResourcePreLoaderService" running in background and can't even close it as it can restart itself.. this is why I think the Sprint branded one is better...

I don't see an option for the Epic. All I see in the Samsung page is:

    Samsung Tablet (P-100) - (build 5.8)
    SCP-i325 ACE - (build 5.5.23)
    Vital - (build 5.8)
    Other

I click on "other" and it says that my device is not supported.

Ignore that and DL from the EVO(HTC BTW) one which is the same one. Also, if you run Sprint Nav on your Epic, you should be getting a nag screen to upgrade as I get that everytime I open it...

Here is TeleNav link for Epic if you still need it. Uses the same TeleNav version 6.2 as the Evo.

I like the Google Nav better than the Telenav. Google Nav has the INTERNET and Google maps to cross reference addresses to. as I found out the hard way the other day when using TeleNav it took me to a location 9mi. out of the way of where my destination I was to arrive at.
UN INSTALLED never will I use Telenav again nearly cost me some serious money.

However, in the NYC/NJ areas as well as CT and other Eastern states I rely on Telenav and it has never let me down. There have also been some places that don't even show on Google maps... I guess as with most services, one might work better elsewhere..

Intresting, so Google has not mapped out the north yet, as well as the South.

They have quite well actually, but there are constant new developments that they don't seem to update as quickly, In many cases I can find some new developments in even Bing maps that Google cannot.

    Default Stinks in Chicago

I updated to TelNAv, it had me making turns in the opposite direction then the Original Sprint Device.

Also the Sprint NAv had a setting "Turn Icons Only" where it would show you the upcoming turns which was easy to see.. The TelNAv doesn't have that feature, so everything is miniturized - Why?

For me a disappointing upgrade. If I have something set incorrectly, please let me know.

Is there any way to turn off the "UPGRADE" nag screen?

    Thanks,

    Tom

Thanks to you guys, I will not upgrade. My "Lola" has never failed me.

I keep reading about a lot of these updates not doing as good a job as original, so have held on this.

If you have upgraded, just delete both programs and redownload the Sprint nav apk. Problem solved.
