i have a samsung galaxy S D-700 slide phone. how do i get the GI

Some apk files and other stuff are missing. I need to reinstall gingerbread or another os. How can i tell which versions will work with my phone? And how can i get them eithout a computer? I have another phone to use and microsd cards. Can i reinstall this way?

I dont know. Was my girlfriends phone till xmas time she got a new one and gave me this one. Dont know what rooted means. I did a factory reset, and its still missing files

What files are missing? If it's missing system apps or preinstalled Samsung apps, then it's been rooted, because you can't remove that stuff from an unrooted phone.

What's the exact model number? Find it in Settings>About Phone​.
