new apps don't show up in apps list, contact app removed?

I just got the Samsung Epic 4G today, and I've been trying to figure it out all day today. This evening I managed to some how make my new apps no longer show up in my apps list, and I've also managed to remove and deactivate the contacts app on my phone. Has anybody ran into this type of problem whenever they got their first Android phone (device)? Does anyone know anything about the Samsung Epic?? How do I fix this problem?
