Jumping ship?
That Galaxy 2 is looking freakin sweet. I am tempted to upgrade when it comes out on Sprint. Thoughts?

Oh wow. I'm pretty partial to my keyboard. Will the s2 have a keyboard version?

Re: Jumping ship?
Just because it (epic 2) won't have a duel core processor doesn't mean that's it not top of the line.

Re: Jumping ship?
Yes I know. I bought my phone the day it came out and still am considering the S2. Don't care about phys keyboard. I know that I have to pay full price and I don't care. I want sleek and speedy!

Re: Jumping ship?
I'm getting the GS2 asap. it will not have a physical keyboard (thank god). If it had one then I would be tempted to get a different phone

Re: Jumping ship?
I really like the Epic, but I upgrade once a year. My upgrade is at the beginning of August, so I’m bound to get something new around that time. Not even considering the Evo 3D. Looking at the Photon and Galaxy S II. If the Epic 2 is dual core, I’d probably get it, but I hear it isn’t so…

Re: Jumping ship?
A friend just got a Samsung Droid Charge on Verizon. He set it up as a wifi hotspot, I connected and ran a speed test. 14 Mbps down!!! Yes, i'm jumping ship....to Version unless Sprint gets 4g where I live and work. I'm frustrated that big red has come from behind and just left Sprint in the dust on the 4g rollout. Even when I have gotten WIMAX, it is usually les than 7 Mbps.

Re: Jumping ship?
I got one better for you...
If the GS2 does make it out the door before the Epic 4g gets GB what version will the GS2 be running??? Hmmm.. Seems like many are getting GB from the factory but they are also only getting v2.3.3 which is good but does have some bugs and things left out. The Nexus S is running v2.3.4 and last two builds for the Epic 4g (EF16 and EF29) have shown to be built around v2.3.4.
That could be a little hat trick for the Epic 4g over many others, sure you got GB but we have the most current possibly final release of GB 2.3.4...
Just food for thought...

Re: Jumping ship?
IMO, the GS2 is better than the photon. The photon is a nice phone, better then the e3d I think. The GS2 has a far better screen, thinner, lighter, and unlocked bootloader. I also think samsung phones will utilize GB better than moto or htc

andrew, you are definetly more tech savvy than I am when it comes to android so could you explain why it's so hard to get a good working modem for the epic? I mean the nexus is a samsung phone and it has GB running well, and samsung has other phones running GB as well.

Is the Photon similar to an Atrix? I just got an Atrix from my employer and it's been quite a pleasant surprise. Sure, the screen lacks the deep blacks and rich color reproduction on my Epic, but the higher resolution more than makes up for it!
Not a big fan of Motoblur or the lack of a physical keyboard, but I'm concerned about Samsung's 480x800 resolution on a bigger screen such as with the Galaxy S II. The 540x960 resolution on the Atrix with the color reproduction seen in a Samsung Super AMOLED screen would just be killer if a company could deliver that (and it would be the phone I'd love to upgrade to).

Re: Jumping ship?
I wish I knew. I'm not THAT tech savvy. I can do a few things here and there, even messed around with some app development. No way am I cracking into the modems though. One thing I did notice... My radio crashes on my Thunderbolt when I run MR2 or MR2.5 and Gingerbread. I wonder if there is something with Gingerbread and how it communicates with modems. I really like the Sense 3.0, but if I can't use it as a daily driver because I can't make a phone call... than I don't really need it.
