Skype Video Calling for Epic Live

Got a couple of FCs at first, but once you reboot the app 2-3 times, the video chat works perfect on Epic 4g, even over 3g!

Didnt even get a FC the first time i tried. It was all smooth for me

Accidentally updated and it broke the vdeo calling. I tried installing the apk again and nothing

I have been waiting for Skype - finally!

Curious, were you on wi-fi? The best I have tried so far has been ooVoo. Fring was terrible, Qik was intermittant.

Do you have to flash Android 2.3 for this or does 2.2 work fine?

I have stock 2.2.1 as im waiting for the official 2.3 i tried it on 3g and 4g. No wifi but since it worked on those two im sure wifi works

Anyone have a glitch when trying to initiate a video call by pressing the "skype video call" button for a contact? Starting a skype call then pressing the cam button seems to work.

By the way, make sure you uninstall existing Skype before trying this apk.

When I go to create an account and I put in my phone number it says I need to enter a country code. Yes, I put in 1+ area code. What gives?

I ran into the same issue, I believe this is an issue with Skype not you. I used my laptop to successfully create an account and just logged into the mobile app.

I googled it. You have to put +1 then the area code. skype needs the plus sign

Agreed. Make sure you create your account online, as it makes life a lot easier.

..worked on my HTC sensation...phone to pc, haven't tried to make phone to phone call yet...not sure as well if upgrading to the latest version of skype will break it

im not able to make a video call. I attempted to call another epic 4g device. when i click on video call, the app flips to landscape mode and nothing happens. the only way to undo the flip of the screen is to exit out of the app.

i am able to call from skype to skype and chat as well.

also, the market is giving me an available update, should i do it?

This same thing happens to me, and whenever I try to answer a video call the app force closes. Did it about 6 times before I gave up.

I have heard issues when running 2.2. Try upgrading to the new i3 2.3 Anonymous Rom.

When I'm on 2.2 it does the force close. I'm currently on bonsai B13 and have no issues with skype. I guess the only issue is that if I'm not on a fast 3g connection calling out is very slow and video sucks, but on a faster connection it works great. It definitely needs 2.3 installed I'm sure.

Yeah, force close here on SRF 1.1.0. Its not worth flashing stock GB for me... I'll wait till it officially drops and we see the sweet custom roms again. Im not taking back all the bloatware just for skype video. ;-)

I'm running it on Bonsai without any FC's. The only issue I have is the video call is not green and won't let me make it. Also, it flips horizontal and stays that way.

UPDATE: I didn't want to initially but because of Skype I updated to the Gingerbread version of the Bonsai. Oh, I'm glad I did! Everything works perfect including the Skype. The videos are really sharp on 4G. It's fine with 3G trial too. The downside with this OS is that some of the apps are not compatible yet and are not showing on the market yet.
