Replace 'App History' button with 'Search' button?
Any way to do this, I'm not personally a fan of the history apps button.
Coming from the Nexus S 4G, i like the search button being down there.
Plus the history apps thumbnails leave privacy concerns to be desired...
I liked the long press on the home key to pull up recent apps, wish i could get that back.

You can root it and put cm9 in your phone

He's right.....root & custom ROM is pretty much your only option.

The point of the new recent app layout is to actually have a saved state. Do you know how many times I have been interrupted while reading something to have to find my place again?
For privacy concerns apps such as Google walker will be blank from when I have looked. Porn on your browser is a different story. But if you swipe it away the tabs will still be there when you open it back up. It will just need to reload. And if you are concerned about privacy...shut the door

Re: Replace 'App History' button with 'Search' button?
At least options to edit how the app history works would be better than it is now.
What's the point of listing EVERY app I've opened? The list becomes so long, its no different than launching the apps menu again from the home screen...
It just seems not as usable without any customizable settings on its function.
Plus I'm just used to the search button being there. I hate the search banner stuck to the home screen.
Was hoping to not root for customizable options, this is my primary device, can't really have it go down on me from doing something on accident. To Each His Own - 05-14-2012, 07:49 PM #6

I flash a bunch of different roms so I always find myself needing to input a password into a website. I also use lastpass to manage all of my passwords and credit card info. Being able to toggle between the screens easily to copy and paste passwords from lastpass to the other page is very useful to me.

Re: Replace 'App History' button with 'Search' button?
While I think the new multitask UI is useful, I think the button is pointless. Long pressing home really wasn't that difficult. But that's why I rooted and put AOKP on so I can change it

Re: Replace 'App History' button with 'Search' button?
Not what i meant. Long press on home button for recent apps works just fine, or used to on my NS4G.
The new app history on the GNex will literately retain every program accessed, thus becoming its own launcher.... WHAT is the point of that??
I don't need a vertical list showing me ever single program I've opened. It becomes more cumbersome than simple launcher browsing.
Plus i HATE the fact it keeps a screen shot of exactly where you were. There is most certainly privacy concerns there.
For example, opening apps that require passwords or pins... those apps will keep a screenshot on the history now, showing whats inside, just by pushing app history button.
Sorry, but that doesn't fly for me.
I would rather someone be taking there time fumbling through the launcher to peer into my device, than it to show up with a single press for access.

Wow you buy a developer phone but then do nothing but complain when you have all the tools available to fix the problem. Now if you bought a phone with a locked bootloader I might tend to to lean on your side but not with this phone. Root it and fix what ails ya. Or you can keep going on complaining about it as I suspect you will.
