Should I get the sprint galaxy nexus for the lte speeds or gsm for the updates? My job pays my bill and I have 1 year left my contract so I'm leveraging between the lte unlimited data and future updates.

I'd go LTE. All Galaxy Nexus devices will be updated. It just will be a difference of maybe a month or two I assume. Might as well enjoy LTE speeds while you wait. Then when you do receive the updates you'll be current and blazing fast. Just my opinion on it.
