Announcing my calls!

Every time I get a call, it announces my caller id out loud! I made sure talk back was off and that speak caller id is off and it still does it. Its driving me insane! Can some one please help resolve this ⁉

Which rom are you using? Stock or something else?
Make sure you have no other programs that can be reading your callerID, such as call blocking apps, etc.

Maybe I'm missing something here. Are you sure you are using a GNex? I've been using mine for 6 mos now with the stock ROM & 5 different custom ROMs at some point & I've never seen this feature available. I had it on my Moto Admiral so I do know what you are referring to but I've never seen that option on my GNex.

I'm using the stock ROM. And yes I'm sure I have a galaxy nexus. I've had this phone since December of last year. It just recently started doing it. Maybe a month ago or so. I don't know what could be causing it.

Hmmm. Stock launcher? Stock dialer? Stock messaging?

Maybe try settings then accessibility then TalkBack option. Mine says its off, maybe yours is on and its announcing audio and other things for blind people?

I figured it out finally. Turns out that an app called Alex (the siri challenger) that I downloaded was some how announcing my calls so once I uninstalled, the problem was resolved! What a relief!

Glad you solved the mystery! As a side note, if you are looking for a Siri competitor, try Assistant
