Why does camera take dark photos with flash off and dark backgrounds with flash on?

I noticed that when your in the camera with flash off the display of your image looks beautiful but then when photo is taken its dark. Should I use hpa

I noticed this also, it definitely left somethingto be desired! I'venoticed that the two low light settings really make a difference try eachone they'llhelp a bit...

Ive seen one (low light) but flash doesnt work when this funtion is enabled. What the the other?

I was told this is because the brightest wires create the deepest blacks. This does make sense

When flash is on, dark background because flash only illuminates closest object.

Camera settings - shooting mode and scene mode. One low light, one night mode.

Though flash isnt available on night mode or low light. I think night mode looks great. The image is actually same contrast as image seen before photo is snapped
