2. 9486 kbps down/ 1534 kbps up
3. 10182 kbps down/ 1114 kbps up
4. 10904 kbps down/ 1106 kbpsup

4G Speeds (After Changing Settings)
1. 10695 kbps down/ 1105 kbps up

Lol,

Every time I goto San Diego my Evo3d would roam off Tiajuana towers. It drove me nuts as my girlfriend's Evo4g would not.

Never got billed for it, just wouldnt have 3g while there till I reset my radios and temporarily latch onto a USA server.

This also happens a fair bit while driving down the I-8 between San Diego and Yuma
But I'm not near San Diego.

I'll change my server, as @EeZeEpEe suggested.

Btw, today the speeds are in the 1's and 2's, even with the fixes from this thread.

I also tried the 4G "fix" from a different site (involves changing the Wimex settings, etc.) but no idea if it did anything, because I don't get 4G indoors.:'(

This phone is a total brick without data reception. How come the indoor reception is SO poor? (everywhere, all over town)

Hi, New to the forums,

In short my data speeds E4GT when I can actully get a 4G signal which is not very often is down 5M to 11M and upload 900K to 1.3M. 98% of the time the numbers are in the 200K range.

3G speeds are consitantly up and down load are in the 100K to 400K range.

I live in the East Bay of the San Fransico, Ca.

I tried your fix and it made things worst so not sure what is going on with Sprint or the Phone.

My assumption at this point is if I am outside and near a tower every thing is fine. (yikes)

Great Phone but if I cannot get data the phone is going back. Bummer as I do really like the phone.

Note: I also tried the WiMax tweaks mentioned in another thread as sugested with no luck.

Having the same issues. I really love the phone, but hate that I have to dance around the room to get any indoor reception. Outdoor reception is really very good, but I don't live or work outdoors.

When I'm at home, I use my Wifi connection (not Sprint's) and it's fantastic. But it burns me that I'm paying $10/mo to Sprint for a "premium data" that doesn't lock on 9.9 times out of 10. Maybe the towers in CA just suck; then again, I'm reading people having similar issues all over the country.

I still think the phone is flawed and has a weak radio.

Well it has been 3 days using this fix. Before I was averaging 600kbps throughout the day. After fix I am now averaging about 1200 (highest I get in the morning is 2000kbps). So far this is working so awesome. Hope it stays like this!:D

I finally did this yesterday morning after checking in on this thread daily.

At home, 3g speeds have always been in the 460-600 range. They are no consistently 960-1200 :)

Also tried it driving around NE MA /SE NH and again, I would say the speeds have increased 60-100% everywhere.

I did try a 4G area in Lawrence, MA yesterday where I used to get about 2.6mpbs down and now various tests (speed test app and sprint.com/speedtest) and I am now getting 6mbps :)

So far, I haven't seen any adverse effect on battery but I will keep my eyes peeled on it.

Let me thank you for the very detailed instructions you provided to perform this update. So far with some basic tests in the PA area (my office) I am seeing about 2x the speed I was seeing before (averging in the 250 area, now hitting closer to 500-600 more consistently. I find that Xtremelabs has a better speed testing app for those that like something else, I'm not a huge fan of Speedtest.net android app. I'm going to continuing running both to see how my speeds flucutuate and also have some real life thoughts on the change. Thanks again!!

I was going to try this also, but since I'm in the same scenario as you (and I take BART for work), i decided to skip...

This is a really hard one to judge since Sprint's 3G speeds seem to be all over the place. I'm going to go back and forth a few more times on different day/times to get a larger sample size. Here are my current results...

App: speedtest.net
Server: Corvallis, OR for all tests
Note: Tests all done back to back, and I kept the phone in a static location.

Code:
3G Stock
             Ping	Download	Upload
             396	179 301
             383	173 41

              375	181 611
Average: 398.4	331.4	388.6

Edit: Got home and did some additional tests. I will personally be keeping these changes in place.

On my device, it looks like ping times are going up, but throughput is going up as well. Taking a tad longer to connect, but when it does, its working faster.

Just got got my SGS2 yesterday from the 3vo figuring if I was going to have to buy a new phone I may as well try something else and was shocked that the data was so slow. Fix definitely worked speeds are back where the 3vo was . However the constant loss of 4G is still absurd it locks and drops constantly - never had a problem with my og evo or 3vo or my clearwire broadband modem - in my basement.

Milo..I am not trying to crash you post but none of these things will work with this phone. All you can basically do is call Sprint Tech and have them open a ticket for you for the support team to work on it for you. The initial tech help will be from the reps taking you through various steps. Then they will open up a ticket and have their mobile team make some changes based on the address you give them. This will help a little bit but the overall factor I have found is that the phone itself must have very subpar performing attenas/radios. The signal is weak both from a 3g and regualar network standpoint. Maybe Samsung spent too much time trying to uphold a "thin" trend rather than building a quality device for reception. Even wifi has some serious connectivity issues.

I disagree, I just tried it and it doubled my download speed.
