    Default Change notification icons?

Now, I know this would probably involve rooting but is there a way to change notification icons? I would like to know the difference between a SMS and EMail in the notification bar (they use the same icon). I'm a formaer pre-minus user and notifications was one of the best things about WebOS.

I come from webOS as well and agree that webOS has the best notification system. As far as changing the icons, I dont think there is a way without rooting unless you use a SMS replacement app. I use Chomp SMS and think its pretty cool.

My old Evo had a cute little cartoon bubble type icon with a smiley face in it for texts and the Gmail icon for email (obvs).

I was *** about this exact thing earlier - but then I realized that the envelopes are indeed different. If you look at them side by side, you see the difference. (But I have different notifications sounds for my email and texts, so that helps.)

FWIW, back when I had my G1, I used to use SMS Pop-Up (by Adam K) and loved it. I think I also used it on my Motorola Backflip.

Still use sms pop up. Great app. Solves notification issue and wakes your phone for incoming texts like iphone. It is win.
