Default Extended Battery for Epic 4G Touch

Because my phone is for business, I typically need more power throughout the day than the stock battery can deliver. Being in construction, I am out in the field a lot making lots of calls, checking multiple email accounts, texting, using the web, etc. and don't have access to charge the battery when it gets low. The 4G Touch battery life is like most stock batteries I've used on other phones. I like using extended batteries, so I contacted Seidio to find out if they are going to make an extended battery for this phone. Here's the good news....

I don't need an extended battery for my usage, as this battery is practically already an extended battery, but it's always nice to have the option. I wonder how much more they can increase the capacity without increasing the size. Anyhoo, thanks for the info.

I agree with Jaywills post. While I don't personally need the extended battery (I'm usually about 50% left by the time my day is done) its great to know it is an option. I hope they are able to make a better battery while maintaining the same slim profile.

I am glad to see this as this phone surely needs a better quality and larger battery. With all of its issues that help decrease battery life this is needed.

This just makes me laugh. I have needed to top off my phone only once since I've got it (launch day). I was every 3-4 days with my Photon and every day with my OG Evo.

FYI I just started a thread in the accessories sub-forum regarding this. I just got an email that the battery is now available.

SEIDIO: Epic 4G Touch 3200mAh Extended Battery Now Available

Received the Seidio 3200mAH yesterday. I've used extended batteries on several phones and I have to say, this battery doesn't make the phone feel bulky or heavy. Fits and feels fine in my shirt pocket. I am a heavy user, lots of phone calls, emails, etc., I had to buy an external charger for my phone, because the battery would be dead in about 6 hours, which is typical for a smartphone like this. I will provide performance feedback after I've used the new battery for a little while.

If anyone out there has the 3200mAH battery and has been using it for a while, would you share your usage/battery performance? Thanks.

Thank you for your post! Please do provide feedback after you've used it. I'll probably be ordering one within the next few days myself. The stock battery isn't bad, but i don't want to have to worry about it because my business emails all go there. I think the phone is too thin to begin with so I'm looking for a bit more bulk. I'll post once I get/test it out as well.

How well is the battery constructed? The seidio battery I bought. For my droid incredible was pretty flimsy. It felt like individual cells covered in contact paper. It also started draining very quickly after a few months.

I bought 2 Anker 1800 spare batteries and charger for $18. I carry a spare in my back pocket when I go out. I also recommend Juice Defender Ultimate for $5. The Anker charger is universal and it will charge the phone and spare at same time. The GS2 boots so quickly popping in a spare is no sweat, versus the bigger battery. It amazes me how fast its boots, my old Pre would take a century to boot.

I would love to get an extended battery but I wouldn't be able to put a skin on it if I did get one. That's makes it a difficult choice for. Anyone have any suggestion?

I like the gel skins on my phones which makes the grip better. I have the 3200mAH extended battery on my Touch. I just cut out some of the back section of my gel skin so that the opening fits over the battery cover. It worked great. A hard cover would be a problem though unless you can find one designed for the battery size.

I've been using the Seidio 3200 mAH for a few days now and it's pretty good. I expected more because the phone still won't last 24 hours with moderate use. I have about 20% left after 12 hours. The main use is 4 emails, some reading news, minimal app usage. I do like the added thickness and the grip the new back cover provides though.

Picked up a 2pack 3800mah from Hong Kong. Took a chance for 22$ and so far so good. I'll prolly still pick up a seidio cause i don't believe these will work long. 14 hours heavy use with full brightness and still going.

I got the Seidio extended battery last week and it's enabled me to not have to worry about running out of juice before the day is over.

I took a 2 hour drive last Sunday and just to see what it could do, I ran Pandora and Google Nav the whole time with the screen at medium brightness without using the car charger. With the original battery, it'd have been depleted shortly after getting back home if not before. With this new battery, I had enough power to finish out the day using several apps, emails and more Pandora for several more hours.

I love the feel and look of the the extended back as well. Did I mention that I ordered it on Cyber-Monday and got $10 off the regular price? I'm very pleased with this purchase.
