When I have the phone in car mode it is supposed to read back the notification and also the message. It did this at first. I've rooted and but a new rom on, and set up a bunch of other programs, now it reads out the notification but not the message. Is there a setting somewhere to read out the whole message? I really liked the feature.

Are you using the stock SMS app? I think I read somewhere that the "read aloud" feature breaks on 3rd party messaging apps.

The default vlingo app doesn't read back the messages in driving mode. I downloaded Vlingo Virtual Assistant which has a mode called "Safe Reader", it'll read back text messages and emails when Safe Reader is turned on.
