Not changing AP's when a better one comes in range

I have three AP's with the exactly the same setup(security and SSID) other than the channels(1, 6 and 11) All other devises I have including an EVO will change the AP they connect to based on where I am in the house. The EPIC 4g touch, however, seems dedicated to the AP i set it up on originally. Is there a way to have it choose the best AP? The connection on the AP I am connected to becomes unusable yet another devise right next to the phone will connect to the AP that is within 10 feet of me.

This is kind of frustrating since my house has a lot of walls with doors between rooms. Maybe there are apps to choose the best manually, but I do not even have that option right now.
