Uninstalled CHROME & Factory Reset = Better Battery Lif
I like many others with ICS have been experiencing very poor battery life after the update and after reading through the forums, i noticed someone had mentioned that Chrome may in fact be the issue.
I decided to give it a try and wait a week before reporting my findings to our community.
This is by far a technical analysis of battery performance, however I thought perhaps some might find this information useful.
After uninstalling Chrome last week, the battery life DRASTICALLY improved however I started getting android proceeds errors every time I would do a simple Google search. After a day or two I realized the issue was not isolated and I decided to do a Factory reset.
After the reset all because right with the world.... My phone's battery life and performance have vastly improved and no more Google process errors.
Ive been unplgged since 7:38, blue tooth in the am, had wifi on all day, streamed sirius for an hour and a half at the gym, and sent abou 50 text messages - currently I am at 44% at 2:08pm.
Hope this helps anyone who's interested

I too think that Chrome is a major part of the issue. it's to bad too, cause I love the browser, but don't like struggling to make it through a 10 hour day on one charge. And yes, I know some people would be happy to have that, but I had outstanding battery life with GB, so even 10 hours of battery life is a pretty big downgrade for me. I believe that the constant syncing of chrome is the problem. I could be very wrong, but I supect I'm not.

Re: Uninstalled CHROME & Factory Reset = Better Battery Lif
After un-installing Chrome, the battery does seem to be a little better. I un-installed it yesterday morning and my battery made it 16 hours instead of about 10. I've been using Firefox today and it does not cause any extra drain. Also, my phone goes into a deep sleep much better, and the android OS has gone down from about 70% to 30%. Laslty, it looks like 16 hours is going to be the rough estimate for today as well. A little over 8 hours off charger, and I am at 55% battery. This is with some email checking, internet surfing, facebooking, and streaming Songza for about 25 minutes.

Yeah, but what's the point of having a full featured browser that's meant to sync all your bookmarks and such across multiple devices if you have to turn off the main feature to keep it from destroying your battery? I'd rather just continue using Firefox until Chrome and ICS play nice together on our E4GT.

Re: Uninstalled CHROME & Factory Reset = Better Battery Lif
I have notice that Chrome does not clear & stays active even when hitting 'back' to the main screen. If you go to task manager after any use of the browser, it remains resident until you manually kill it (or clear memory).
So I am currently using Chrome, but making sure I kill it when done & that is what I have determined to be the battery life killer on my phone (manually updated to ICS). Also have noticed leaving WiFi on uses more battery on ICS than on GB, so I now also turning that off when not in use whereas I kept it active at all times on GB.
Side note: I have having non-response crashes on both Chrome & Weatherbug. The whole phone hangs for a number of seconds & comes back asking if I want to report the crash....never had that for any apps on GB. - 08-02-2012, 11:15 PM #12
Re: Uninstalled CHROME & Factory Reset = Better Battery Lif
How do you uninstall Chrome? My wife installed the OTA - ICS update yesterday, but nowhere can I find Chrome to uninstall it. It is not under Settings, Applications, or anywhere else I've looked. When logged on the Internet there is nothing to identify the browser as Chrome. Help!
