Root your ET4G and pick out a custom rom of your liking. Also keep your radios off... and by radios I mean your 3G, 4G, Bluetooth and Wifi unless your using it. I can get almost a day and a half out of my battery with like 3 to 4 hours of screen on time, a bunch of texts and calls, music...

As for apps... What ever you were using on you OG Evo... And if you go the root way, S-Voice and Google Now are really Kewl and quite useful.

And oh ya m8.... I forgive you for being a Jets fan....... Jk

Ok then.... Your going to need to do a bit of reading... Rooting your device is basically unlocking it on software level so that you can install a custom recovery and a custom rom or a bunch of other mods.

Lots of links to other threads. A tone of useful info....

Read, read and read some more, then I would suggest you stick with flashing GB based roms the first few times... Get the feel for it you know.

To your "what's it do"... It opens up the door to enlightenment!!!!! Na, not really but root really allows you to take real control of your device. It allows you to make it work the way you want it to.

Just read and you'll see... I do have to warn you though... Flashing roms, kernels and roms are like potato chips... You can't stop at one!!!!!!
