I noticed for the past few days that my phone gets really hot while it's charging. I powered it off to charge and there was a caution and temp icon on the screen. What could be causing it to overheat?

What from are you running? Any other problems? When it charges does it take way longer than normal? How long ago did you get the phone?

I'm running stock ICS. Yes it takes longer to charge than it did on GB. I got my phone around Xmas.

Remove the battery. Lay the battery on its side on a flat coutertop. Spin it. If it spins like a top go to sprint and tell them your battery is bulging.

Also, corrosion on your charging port maybe the cause.

PS - Nigel's back AndroidCentral! Woohoo!

You could also have a rogue app running and causing the processor to be used heavily, causing it to get hot and take longer to charge..
as others mentioned hard reset and make sure battery is flat and not bulging..

I tried the hard reset but it didn't help. I'm gonna take my phone to a Sprint store on Thurs.

I took my phone to Sprint and they gave me a replacement battery. Now that battery is doing the same thing as my old one.

I would check that you haven't an app running that could be the culprit. I found that some task manager apps caused that to happen so I uninstalled them. Also check any widgets running and things you have automatically synching. I also stop all apps running and clear memory... it could be something running in the background.

I just began to notice this on an S2 that I've had for almost two years; as it happens after swapping out the charger cord. After going on to a third cord (the first replacement wasn't new), it's noticeably better.

how else can they sell you the new version of samsung cell phones? all these devices have a time limit after certain time they will break down on you purposely so you go out and spend money and buy yourself a new phone don't think Samsung can stay in business if you stick with one phone for 10 years so let it be written let it be heard.
